AMG Dental Group is a Family Dental Practice. That means Dr. Guerra and staff can take care of a wide variety of dental needs. Starting as early as one year old we can see kids to evaluate the health of the first erupting teeth. The first teeth will fall out in a few years but it’s still very important to establish healthy habits from the beginning. Also, if your child develops decay in their primary teeth it can lead to decay in permanent teeth before they even erupt. As kids get older we continue to see them, generally twice a year, for cleaning and to teach kids how to care for their teeth. We are here to help parents convey the importance of twice daily brushing and to get kids to understand how and why they need to floss every day. Dr. Guerra can also identify kids who need braces and help parents find an orthodontist.
Our goal for adults is to maintain the best health and appearance for your smile. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!” Twice a year check-ups and cleanings allow us to stay ahead of many potential problems. Fluoride treatments, even for adults, help keep teeth strong. Regular exams identify decay when it’s small and can be handled with little fillings, while catching decay too late can result in crowns or even root canal therapy. There is also a time in life when many of us decide to give ourselves the gift of a beautiful smile. Whether you are interested in whitening or something more we can help. We offer Invisalign, to give you the straight teeth you’ve always wanted. With veneers and crowns Dr. Guerra can help restore a youthful or brighter smile .
Comprehensive Treatment includes not only traditional treatment of dental disease but also prevention and early detection. Preventing dental disease starts at home with good oral hygiene and a balanced diet. It is continued in the dental office by the efforts of your dentist and dental hygienist to promote, restore, and maintain your oral health.
Prevention also includes regular dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Sealants and fluoride are also great preventive treatments that help protect the teeth.

Professional dental cleanings (dental prophylaxis) are usually performed by Registered Dental Hygienists. Your cleaning appointment will include a dental exam and the following:
1. Removal of calculus (tartar): Calculus is hardened plaque that has been left on the tooth for some time and is now firmly attached to the tooth surface. Calculus forms above and below the gum line and can only be removed with special dental instruments.
2. Removal of plaque: Plaque is a sticky, almost invisible film that forms on the teeth. It is a growing colony of living bacteria, food debris, and saliva. The bacteria produce toxins (poisons) that inflame the gums. This inflammation is the start of periodontal disease!
3. Teeth polishing: Remove stain and plaque that is not otherwise removed during tooth brushing and scaling.
Teeth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the color of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile. Having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of most patients. There are a number of ways to whiten teeth. The most popular method is using a home teeth whitening system that will whiten teeth dramatically. Since teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.
Teeth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed every several years, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea, or wine.
The main reasons for teeth whitening include: Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development); Normal wear of outer tooth layer; Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.); and Yellow, brown stained teeth.
This type of teeth whitening usually requires two visits. At the first appointment, impressions (molds) will be made of your teeth to fabricate custom, clear plastic, trays.
At your second appointment, you will try on the trays for proper fit, and adjustments will be made if necessary. The trays are worn with special whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening. It is normal to experience some tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have stopped bleaching. You will receive care instructions for your teeth and trays, and be encouraged to visit your dentist regularly to help maintain a beautiful, healthy, white smile
Veneers are very thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a beautiful and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many dental conditions.
As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. However, it should be noted that they are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful long lasting smile.
Regular dental cleanings keep teeth and gums healthy and can play an important role in preventing gum disease. Adrian Guerra, DDS helps patients reduce the risk of gum disease and promote better oral health with dental cleaning treatments.
Teeth cleanings are sometimes dreaded. Between the prodding, strange noises, and occasional jaw discomfort, it’s easy to understand the apprehension. But the truth is: For most people, teeth cleaning is simple and painless.
At Dr. Guerra’s dental office we provide dental cleanings and examinations to patients throughout North Palm Beach, Lake Park, Palm Beach Gardens, Juno Beach, Jupiter and surrounding areas. We believe that preventative care is essential for staying in good oral health. Our goal is to keep our patients as healthy as possible, and the best way to do so is through ongoing dental care and teaching our patients how to practice good oral hygiene at home.
Knowing exactly what is going on during the process can help ease your stress and allow you to better enjoy the minty fresh, clean and healthy results.
A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance and is an excellent way to replace missing teeth.
There are several types of bridges. You and your dentist will discuss the best options for your particular case. The “traditional bridge” is the most popular type and is usually made of porcelain fused to metal. This type of bridge consists to two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are attached to pontics (artificial teeth), filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth.
Dental bridges are highly durable and will last many years, however they may need replacement or need to be re-cemented due to normal wear.
Reasons for a fixed bridge: Fill space of missing teeth; Maintain facial shape; Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position; Restore chewing and speaking ability; Restore your smile; Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance.
Dr. Adrian Guerra and our dental team provides treatments for bruxism, a common condition that affects many of our patients. Bruxism is the involuntary grinding and clenching of your teeth, which often occurs at night. If left untreated, teeth grinding can eventually cause a number of dental complications, including: Sore jaw and facial muscles; Headaches; Worn down teeth; Increased tooth pain and sensitivity; and/or Tooth fractures.
To treat teeth grinding in North Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Guerra offers custom-made night guards. Night guards are made from a durable form of plastic and fit snugly over your teeth. The goal of a night guard is to prevent your teeth from touching and act as a barrier between the direct surfaces of your teeth. You can be assured that your night guard will be easy to wear and comfortable to sleep in. If you are experiencing jaw pain and headaches, especially in the morning, we invite you to contact our dental office today and schedule a time to come and talk with our team.
Gum disease, also known as periodontal disease, is an infection of the gums surrounding your teeth. Gum disease is one of the top reasons for tooth loss in adults, and because it is virtually pain-free, many patients do not know they have the disease. During each regular checkup, our dental team will check for signs of periodontal disease by measuring the space between your teeth and gums.
Periodontal disease forms just below the gum line and creates small pockets that separate the gums from the teeth. Periodontal disease has two stages: 1. Gingivitis, the early stage of gum disease, when the gums become red and swollen, and bleed easily. At this stage, the disease is treatable and can usually be eliminated by daily brushing and flossing. 2. Periodontitis. If left untreated, gingivitis will advance into periodontitis, and the gums and bone that support the teeth will become seriously and irreversibly damaged. Gums infected with periodontitis can cause teeth to become loose, fall out, or be removed by a dentist.
Treatments for gum disease can vary depending on the severity of each individual case. Typical treatments include: Non-surgical treatments such as at-home periodontal trays, and scaling and root planing (deep cleaning); Periodontal surgery and laser gum surgery; Dental implants. Gum disease can be prevented. Regular dental checkups and periodontal examinations are important for maintaining your health and the health of your smile. You don’t have to lose teeth to periodontal disease, and by practicing good oral hygiene at home, you can significantly reduce your chances of ever getting gum disease .
Teeth that are badly damaged by decay or fractures can be saved by root canal therapy. The nerves of the teeth are most commonly damaged by infection from cavities that become too large, which causes the nerve to die, and eventually becomes a dental abscess. Abscessed teeth have to be treated with root canal (endodontics) or extracted, to remove the infection from the mouth. The sick or infected pulp of the tooth is removed and the inside of the roots are thoroughly cleaned. The space is then filled with an inert sealer to prevent infection. The remaining natural roots can then support a crown that will last for many years. At AMG Dental Group we strive to save the natural teeth and therefore provide our patients with complete root canal therapy in most cases.
Dr. Adrian Guerra utilizes tooth colored fillings. There are many advantages to precision-placed tooth colored restorations. Resin fillings and partial crown onlays are bonded to the teeth, creating a tight, superior fit to the natural tooth. Such restorations can be used in instances where much of the tooth structure has been lost. The tooth remains intact and stronger. Resin wears like natural teeth and does not require placement at the gum line, which is healthier for your gums!
There are times when it is necessary to remove a tooth. Sometimes a tooth may have so much decay that it puts the surrounding teeth and jaw at risk of decay, so Dr. Guerra may recommend removal and replacement with a bridge or implant. Sometimes a baby tooth has misshapen or long roots that prevent it from falling out as it should, and the tooth must be removed to make way for the permanent tooth. Infection, orthodontic correction, or problems with a wisdom tooth can also require removal of a tooth.
When Dr. Guerra determines that a tooth needs to be removed, he may extract the tooth during a regular checkup or may schedule another visit for this procedure.
Once a tooth has been removed, neighboring teeth may shift, causing problems with chewing or with your jaw joint function. To avoid these complications, Dr. Guerra may recommend that you replace the extracted tooth as stated previously.
AMG Dental Group offers both options according to the patients’ needs. Denture are removable dental appliance replacements for missing teeth and surrounding tissue. They are made to closely resemble your natural teeth and may even enhance your smile. Complete dentures are recommended when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are recommended when some natural teeth remain. A partial denture prevents other teeth from shifting as well as filling in the spaces created by missing teeth. A complete denture may be either “conventional” or “immediate.” A conventional type is made after the teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed, about 4 to 6 weeks. During this time the patient will go without teeth.
Immediate dentures are made in advance and immediately placed after the teeth are removed, thus preventing the patient from having to be without teeth during the healing process. Once the tissues shrink and heal, adjustments have to be made. Dentures are very durable appliances and last many years.
Dr. Adrian Guerra can fully restore your smile, actually turning the clock back 20 to 40 years or more! Dental implants are the ultimate solution replacing any or all of your teeth. Many people who have lost teeth might feel too self-conscious to smile or talk. In addition, biting irregularities caused by tooth loss can have a negative effect. Many adults encounter the loss of permanent teeth. Many people report losing at least one permanent tooth by the age of 40. Tooth loss can have a far reaching effect on your dental health and personal appearance. If not addressed, tooth loss can lead to problems like misalignment, embarrassment, and the loss of facial contours. Implants are the best solution for tooth replacement. They look and function much like natural teeth. Most patients say they cannot tell the difference. Even more than tooth replacement, dental implants are designed to take the place of missing roots, so the loss of jawbone tissue can be prevented.
Made up of small titanium rods carefully placed into the jawbone, dental implants attach to tooth-colored dental crowns for a radiant and natural looking smile. These personalized dental restorations are permanently fixed into the mouth and matched to look and feel like your natural teeth for a smile that will give you true confidence. Dental implants offer many unique advantages over traditional dentures or dental crowns and bridges. Ask yourself if one or more of these benefits may be right for you:
1) Integration into the jawbone to prevent rapid bone deterioration after tooth loss.
2) Acts as a strong tooth root anchored into your bone by Osseo integration.
3) Appear as lifelike as your natural teeth and can be just as easy to maintain.
4) Dental implants have an exceptional success rate at 97% and can last a lifetime.
5) Can be placed without having to alter adjacent teeth.
6) Dental implants are the only form of restorative dental treatment option to replace both the tooth root and the dental crown, providing a strong structural base much like a natural, healthy tooth.
Dental anxiety is both very real and very common fear. Sometimes this fear can keep patients out of the dental chair for long periods of time, even years, leaving them with poor oral health. Dr. Guerra is sympathetic to patients with dental anxiety and wants to help. One method he uses is nitrous oxide. Nitrous oxide is a sedative gas, proven to be helpful in relieving any stress you feel during dental procedures. Once your dental work is completed, oxygen is administered to clear your head. The effects of nitrous oxide generally wear off quickly, and you will be functioning normally. Most patients are able to drive home or return to work. Properly administered nitrous oxide is safe and effective.
